The City of Arvada collected input on the future of Olde Town through various outreach initiatives. On June 1, the City of Arvada announced it has engaged landscape and architecture firm Dig Studio on a Strategic Reinvestment Plan that includes the development of a shared 20-year vision for Olde Town Arvada as well as a study into the feasibility of permanently maintaining street closures that have created a pedestrian experience. Olde Town Improvements
Early during the pandemic, the City of Arvada worked with the Olde Town Arvada Business Improvement District (BID) to temporarily close streets within Olde Town Arvada as part of its support to the local business community. The closures expanded patio dining and retail space to allow businesses the opportunity to safely serve more patrons. The response was largely favorable, and the City moved forward with a semi-permanent model.

Olde Town Arvada is a model for historic preservation, adaptive reuse, mixed-use redevelopment, transit oriented development, and creative placemaking. Olde Town is comprised of numerous historic buildings and maintains the original layout of Arvada in the late 19th century, now serving as the City’s downtown and central transit hub. It is a center of cultural and commercial activity, and has become Arvada’s premiere transit oriented development neighborhood with the arrival of the Gold Line commuter rail in 2019.
