A quieter street - trash pickup only one day a week.
I would LOVE to see Arvada negotiate trash pickup services for both regular and recyclables (by bids, an equitable allotment based on current market shares/accounts, etc) so that each residential street only has ONE truck picking up each week. It's ridiculous to see everyone's trash out on different days, hearing thundering beeping trash trucks hauling up our streets 4 out of 5 days a week. Less wear and tear on alphalt, less pollution, fewer noisy morning (both the trucks, trash and barking dogs) are all potential benefits, there might be more I haven't thought of (e.g., traffic out on roads leading to dump, etc.). Whatever is perceived as a benefit of having all these services trafficking multiple times (revenue at the dump would remain the same as overall trash volume is the same!), is far outweighed by environmental benefits from consolidating these services.
